The artistry of admin
I mean, nothing kills the funk quite like the grids of an Excel spreadsheet or minute-taking at a group meeting, am I right?...

As a creative, admin tasks are literally the polar opposite of everything that makes me tick on a cellular level. I mean, nothing kills the funk quite like the grids of an Excel spreadsheet or minute-taking at a group meeting, am I right? Now, don't get me wrong, my Excel game is tight, but the tedium involved is still the epitome of creative hell to me.
Yet, after undertaking a collaborative album project that has taken at least 8 years longer than humanly reasonable, it's become obvious to me just how much I and other creatives stand to gain if we mastered such skills. These seemingly basic skills, often joked about as being completely out of our wheelhouse as the right-brained, feeling-driven dreamers we supposedly are!
The difficulties we face in bands or musical relationships are often due to wasted time or money, miscommunicated goals, lack of obvious momentum or one-sided work ethic. But I'm a firm believer that these crises can often be boiled down even further to some innocuous, boring admin task that got overlooked and ended up weakening the foundation until the whole structure got Jenga-d!
Here at Mike, we want to inspire artists and bands to take control of your music career. In a very practical way, this means that we want to either put tools in your hands or demystify the tools you already have to help you get the structure and routine you need to be successful. I will shine a light on the power of these seemingly simple, but unbelievably effective life hacks and share my stories of how they helped me gain the forward momentum I desperately needed as an artist.
